Southpaw Technology was founded in Toronto, Canada, in 2005 by Gary Mundell and Remko Noteboom, two veterans of the computer graphics (CG) industry. Their business sprung from the founder's extensive experience developing software solutions for Alias/Wavefront, now Autodesk, and from working on full CG animated feature film projects, broadcast episodic TV animation, feature film visual effects, and video game projects.
It was through their work that they recognized the need for a system that was powerful enough to manage thousands of digital assets as they moved through the creation process, intuitive enough to keep creative teams organized and focused on their tasks, and flexible enough to support most creative workflows. And so TACTIC was born.
By 2008, Southpaw realized that the benefits of its solution extended far beyond media and entertainment, to advertising agencies and marketing departments in consumer products companies, aerospace companies, and other organizations creating large amounts of 2D or 3D digital files. The immense datasets, the complex workflows, the large and often distributed creative teams, the disparity of systems and databases, and the complexities of moving data across organizations – all of these challenges require tools that only TACTIC can provide.
